Today is indeed a happy day for the diocese of Umuahia as she ordains six deacons to the order of presbyteriate and for the 30th anniversary of the bishop
Amidst the situation of the coronavirus pandemic, six deacons were raised to the order of the priesthood having gone through the rigorous process of the seminary formation and have been found worthy through the reports and testimonies of those placed in their care.

He equally talked about the priesthood in general and gave the newly ordained some admonitions on how to go about their priestly ministry.
Drawing his homily from the gospel reading, the bishop spoke about Christ who is the chief priest per excellence in whom we participate in his priesthood. He encouraged the newly ordained to be steadfast in imitating Christ who was selfless and compassionate.
Going further, he charged them with the duty of bearing fruits that will last so that people looking at them we draw more closer to Christ whom they represent. He encouraged them to beware of leading souls astray for that is not what they have been called to do; but instead let their light shine out and their attitudes speak volume about them.
Finally, the bishop thanked everyone who have contributed to make this day a success and thank the family members for the gift of their children for accepting to undertake this task and prayed that God may reward them with fullness of life here and hereafter.
Meanwhile, the people who came for the occasion were so joyful especially the family members as their sons have been elevated into the order of priesthood.
